Consumer Privacy Notice

On this page
This notice is for you if you visited a website or app that measures its marketing with Attributy. It explains, in plain language, what we collect, who decides what happens to it, and what choices you have.
If you are looking for the full legal detail, see our Privacy Policy.
Who we are, and who decides
Attributy, Inc. makes marketing measurement software. Brands and agencies use it to work out which of their marketing actually leads to sales — for example, whether a customer arrived from a search ad, a social post, a television spot or an email.
We are a service provider. We do not decide which websites are measured, what is collected, or how long it is kept. The company whose website you visited makes those decisions, and is responsible for telling you about them and for obtaining any consent the law requires. We only process the data on that company’s instructions.
That also means your rights — to access your data, correct it or have it deleted — are generally exercised with that company, not with us. We will help route your request if you contact us.
What we collect when you visit a measured website
When a company installs our measurement tag on its own website, and where you have given any consent that applies, the tag may record:
- The pages you viewed, their titles, the order you viewed them in and how long you stayed.
- Links you clicked and how far you scrolled down a page.
- If you made a purchase: the order reference, the order value and currency, and the products, categories, quantities and prices in it.
- The page that sent you there, and any campaign tags or advertising click identifiers in the link you followed.
- Your browser, operating system, device type and model, and screen size.
- Your IP address, and the approximate location worked out from it — normally your country, region and city.
- A random identifier stored on that company’s own website so that repeat visits from the same browser can be recognised within that company’s account.
The tag runs as first-party technology on the website you are visiting. It does not follow you across unrelated websites.
What we never do
- We do not sell your personal information.
- We do not run an advertising network and we do not serve you ads.
- We do not set third-party advertising cookies on your device.
- We do not combine data from unrelated companies to build a profile that follows you around the web.
- We do not record or replay your screen, and we do not capture your keystrokes, the contents of form fields, your messages or your payment card details.
- We do not collect precise GPS location from your device.
- We ask our customers not to send us special category data, government identifiers, payment card numbers, health information, or data about children — and our agreements prohibit it.
What the data is used for
The data is used only to give the company whose website you visited an understanding of its own marketing. In practice that means:
- Working out which marketing channels and campaigns contributed to a sale or sign-up.
- Removing conversions that several advertising platforms each claim credit for.
- Producing dashboards, reports, forecasts and budget recommendations for that company.
- Showing that company live activity on its own website.
- Filtering out bot and fraudulent traffic so the numbers stay reliable.
- Keeping the service secure and working properly.
We also produce aggregated statistics that cannot reasonably be linked back to any individual, and use those to operate and improve our service.
Your choices
On the website you visited. Because our measurement is installed by each company on its own site, the most effective control is the one that site offers you — normally its cookie or consent banner, where you can refuse or withdraw consent for analytics and marketing. Using that control stops the measurement on that site.
In your browser or on your device.
- Most browsers let you block or delete cookies and clear site storage. See your browser’s settings, or allaboutcookies.org for guidance.
- Privacy-focused browsers and tracker-blocking extensions can stop measurement scripts from loading at all.
- On iOS, App Tracking Transparency is under Privacy & Security. On Android, open Settings, then Google, then Ads, and follow the prompts under Ads Privacy.
- To limit interest-based advertising generally, see optout.aboutads.info or, in Europe, youronlinechoices.eu.
These choices are stored per browser and per device, so you will need to repeat them on each browser and device you use, and again if you clear your browsing data.
By contacting us. Write to [email protected]. Because we act on our customers’ instructions, we will pass your request to the relevant company and support them in answering it. Please tell us which website or brand your request concerns — without that we usually cannot identify which records relate to you.
On attributy.com itself. Our own website is separate from the measurement described above. You can opt out of advertising cookies there at any time using the Opt-out link in our footer.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to know what personal information is held about you, to get a copy of it, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict its use, and to withdraw consent you previously gave. You also have the right not to be discriminated against for exercising these rights.
For measurement data collected on a company’s website, that company is responsible for answering your request. Contact them first if you can. If you contact us instead, we will forward your request to them and help them respond.
Our Privacy Policy sets out these rights in detail, including the specific provisions for the EU, UK and Switzerland and for U.S. state residents, and explains how to appeal a decision.
How the data is protected and how long it is kept
We apply administrative, technical and physical safeguards designed to protect the data we hold against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure and misuse. Data travels over encrypted connections, access to production systems is limited to the people who need it, and each customer’s data is kept separate from every other customer’s.
How long measurement data is kept is set by the company whose website you visited, within the limits of our agreement with them. When their instruction or their subscription ends, the data is deleted or returned to them.
No system is completely secure, so we cannot promise absolute security. If you think you have found a vulnerability in our services, please tell us at [email protected].
Children
Our software is a business tool and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, and our customers are not permitted to install our measurement tag on properties directed to children or to send us data they know relates to a child.
If you believe a child’s information has reached us, please contact [email protected] so we can check and delete it.
